Just another late Autumn afternoon in Melbourne, watching people and birds go about their routines and rituals, and all the while the air so cold that your hands ache, the light so beautiful that your eyes ache…
Once, this was a very different space, called Australia on Collins, a charming if somewhat tired shopping centre. Now, it’s had something of an extreme makeover… no longer do the escalators guide us to bland chain stores; now, they guide us somewhere else altogether…

We watched the sun sink into the ocean, and then leave its mark across the sky like memory. As it faded we felt the cold wind race across the calm sea, screaming for our attention as one sense gave way to another…
