365 Project: Day 17

Stanley-Jetty-Long-Exposure

Day 17. A smoothed-out long exposure shot… perhaps it could be called Broken Harbors after the Stars of the Lid song, which I was listening to while processing it… listening to Mule Variations by Tom Waits right now… who knows what image goes with that??

[The old jetty at Stanley. It really is a long exposure shot – which takes away the amazingly strong wind and the spray that characterised this location! This was with the Nikon D700, my 50mm f/1.4, and my B+W ND110 10-stop filter. Just in case you were interested…]

Bird-Roof-Lensbaby

Day 16. Perhaps we could call it Nevermore? (It is the wrong type of bird, I know…)
Today’s shot is inspired by American photographer, writer, and serious inspiration Freeman Patterson, who once said: “If you only photograph when you feel like it… you’ll never be totally successful as a photographer”. I didn’t feel like photographing today – but I did anyway.

[Dodgy crumbling building near the rail yards in Burnie. Bird. Nikon D700. Lensbaby, but this time with the double glass optic. Thoughts?]

365 Project: Day 14

Magnolia-Black-and-white

Day 14! That’s two whole weeks! Yay for me…

[I was complaining the other day that it is raining all the time, and so I never get a chance to shoot. Sharon said, “Why not shoot inside then?”… why not indeed. So while the Grand Final was on today I decided to put myself to more creative pursuits…oh and Sharon, the Swans won. Driving around looking for a magnolia tree, I was the only one on the streets. Literally (and I use that word correctly here). First time ever I think I’ve set up a shot… your thoughts?]

Fishing-Wynyard-Beach-Lensbaby

Day 10. Another one with some people in it, just for you Sharon and Jill. 🙂

[Doctors Rocks, Wynyard. Not a huge fan of this one, but then I suppose I won’t love them all equally. There’s just something about the colours that doesn’t work for me… what do you think? Didn’t set out to shoot this, but then, that’s becoming something of a theme. There are a couple of things I like about it – the position of the fishermen, the other people just lying on the rocks, the shape of the cloud.  Okay, I guess I don’t really mind it!]
