365 Project: Day 129

Day 129

Day 129. Quite clearly, this is another interpretation of that classic location that I previously featured on Day 118. I must say, I prefer the feel of that earlier shot – but really, I’m interested to hear your thoughts… which do you prefer, and why? (Oh, and this is another nice opportunity to keep going with the whole ‘seascape’ thing that I’ve been on for a few days now… tomorrow will be something else, I promise!!)

Day 128

Day 128. Let’s keep going with the seascapes, just for another couple of days… but this time, let’s find some colour in the water, not just the sky, and let’s find another jetty, and this one will stretch right out into the water, reaching out from the land, and this one will even have ghosts, if you just look carefully enough…

Day 120

Day 120. Another water scene, but this time from the other side! I must admit that I’m really almost completely unsure about this shot… what is it a photo of? Not sure… Where is the focus? Don’t know… But still, there’s something that draws me to it, and makes me feel like it is worth the hour or so spent cloning out various bits of rubbish and detritus from the surface of the water. It seems to have a sense of movement and flow to me… but only if you take the time to look for it.  At a glance, from a distance, it just looks messy… or perhaps it’s just me? What are your thoughts – interesting shot, or just plain ugly?

Day 118

Day 118. A rare moment of planning led to this shot; I had known well in advance that I wanted to visit this boatshed when in WA, and as luck would have it, our accommodation was only a short(ish!) walk away… this was a drizzly afternoon, and as I had expected, there was already another photographer at the location when we arrived.  Luckily he retired to his car to wait for ‘better light’… I thought the light we had was pretty special! Perfect for a long exposure shot…

Day 115

Day 115… this from the inside of an old whale oil tank, converted to a movie theatre… yes, the walls are still dirty, and it smells of oil when it is hot (like it was this day!)… this was the entrance way – I was fascinated by the patterns of light angling in from under the door, and the way they shifted and changed in the wind… of course, you can’t see that movement here, but perhaps you will indulge me by imagining it?

Day 112

Day 112. I call this one ‘schism’.  While riding my scooter one day, I came across this beach, where someone(?) has placed a whole lot of driftwood upright in the sand. Now, some of these pieces are really large – easily 3 metres tall when they are sticking up… who did it? And why? And how can I thank them for providing such great photographic inspiration? I think I need to go back though… this doesn’t quite evoke the right feeling for me… there’s more of the story of this site to be told. I just hope it will last long enough for someone (maybe me?) to tell it…

Day 67. Not sure why I start every day with the repetition of the heading. Might have to think about that one.

[This is the other side of the lighthouse from Day 65, complete with sun dog just off the top of the frame. I like the colours in this one! Of course, with all of this colour, tomorrow will have to be IR…]
